Classes and Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

Classes and SIGs are for Computer Club members only. See the Home page for membership information.

Computer SIGs are a group of computer users interested in a specific subject (e.g., Mac, Windows 10, Google Docs) bringing their own computer to ask questions about what they want to learn about. There is no registration for a SIG; just show up on the scheduled date, room and time. Although a facilitator leads the group, anyone can answer questions, or help show where/how to find an answer. Individual SIGs are scheduled through Ben Tarbell. See the SIGs calendar for active SIGs.

Computer classes are usually held in small groups, led by a teacher following a specific subject agenda, usually 1-2 hours, held in Lab 1 or 2. Classes require registration. Visit the class tables at the Friday meetings for scheduled classes. (Some will not be taught until there is sufficient sign-ups on "Interest" classes.) See the Classes Calendar for schedules classes.

👉   Class Enrollment Process

  • Please read the class information sheet at a registration table
  • Sign up only for classes that you intend to attend
  • Signing up does NOT enroll you in a class
  • A registrar will send an email notification of openings in a class,
  • The first people to reply will be enrolled until the class is full
  • You will receive an email if the class is full, and will be put on a wait list
  • The registrar will send a reminder email the 2 days before the class you are to attend.
  • You are expected to attend the class enrolled in
  • Failure to attend could deprive someone on the wait list from being able to attend
  • Please contact the registrar if you need to be removed from the class sign-up or enrollment list

Below are typical classes and SIGs. See the calendars for scheduled ones.
Sign up at the Class Registration tables in the Alcove for current classes.
